Special Note:
Author John Allegro was one of the original members of the international team of scholars involved in the translation and study of the Dead Sea Scrolls following
their discovery in the late 1940s and 1950s. These ancient Jewish texts provide valuable insights into Second Temple Judaism and the context
surrounding the birth of Christianity.
While Allegro's ideas about psychedelic origins of religion were largely dismissed by mainstream scholars, they did have a lasting impact on certain
alternative and esoteric circles. His work has been both criticized and appreciated for challenging traditional narratives.
